Swedish home insurance normally covers your belongings, personal liability, legal expenses (rättsskydd), assault cover and travel protection for the first weeks of a trip. If you rent, you insure your contents; if you own a bostadsrätt, add a bostadsrättstillägg for the fixtures you're responsible for.
Västra Götaland 2026 fees: SEK 200 for a doctor at your own vårdcentral (SEK 300 at another), SEK 50 for a nurse or psychologist, SEK 300 at an out-of-hours jourcentral and SEK 400 at a hospital emergency department. Fees are capped at SEK 1,450 per 12 months.
Check the policy wording. EU/EEA citizens can use the European Health Insurance Card for necessary care during temporary stays, but it does not replace cover for a permanent move. Home and liability insurance from another country rarely covers a Swedish address.
