How long is the Boplats queue in Gothenburg?
In 2025 Boplats Väst let 6,853 flats, and the people who got one had queued 2,493 days on average (about 6.8 years). 307,593 people were in the queue at the end of 2025. You can register from age 17 with BankID or Freja+; it is free until you turn 22, then SEK 200 a year. Unpaid fees cancel your queue days.
What does a sublet cost in Gothenburg?
Qasa's median sublet rents for January to June 2026: 1 room SEK 8,500, 2 rooms SEK 11,250, 3 or more rooms SEK 14,180 and houses SEK 15,000 a month. The highest 2-room medians were in Centrum (SEK 13,000) and Majorna-Linné (SEK 12,500). These are platform figures, not official statistics.
What changed for private letting on 1 July 2026?
According to Qasa's summary of the new rules, one person can now let up to two homes under the simplified Private Letting Act, rents for let-out owned homes can better reflect market value, and landlords may take a deposit of up to three months' rent. Sublets of rental (hyresrätt) flats are still capped by the utility-value rules.

Can I register my address if I'm subletting or in a hotel?
Yes. Skatteverket needs the address where you actually live and sleep, including the 4-digit apartment number, and your name must be on the door or mailbox; c/o addresses are not accepted. A hotel or hostel address is accepted, but you must report your new address when you move.
